HOW DOES IT WORK

STEP ONE

Contact Big Duke Tinting to discuss your wants and needs to your vehicle or premises.

Here you can choose from a variety of smokes or coloured films to suit you.

Once you are happy and your information is entered into the system, your booking is complete.

(DEPOSIT REQUIRED FOR BOOKINGS OVER £200)

STEP TWO

We will travel to the address specified during the booking process, ready with all tools and materials for your installation. We do require access to a power supply.

STEP THREE

For automotive installation our unique isolation pod measuring 3mx3m will be set up to shelter from any natural contamination in the air or unwanted weather conditions.

(Location and space dependent)

STEP FOUR

We will proceed to install your window film or Vinyl wrap as agreed by you. Automotive films may require door cards and cosmetic trims to be removed to gain access to certain areas. Be assured this is done with care and in a professional manner.

STEP FIVE

After installation a final check will be carried out before leaving.

You will receive after care information and guidance on how to enjoy and respect your new window films and vinyl wraps.

FAQs

  • "Can I tint my front windows?" - UK vehicle window tinting laws:

The rules for tinted front windscreens and front side windows depend on when the vehicle was first used. There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.
Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later
The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.
The police or the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) vehicle examiners use light measuring equipment to measure window tint.
If your windscreen or front side windows are tinted too much you could get:
a ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed
a penalty notice or court summons
Tinted windows are NOT part of the MOT test.

Big Duke Tinting will only fit window film to front side windows if the vehicle is for off road purposes (Show or track car) Never to a windscreen. It is down to the owner to avoid use of vehicle on public roads.

  • "Will the Window Film change colour, peel, or bubble up on my car as time goes by?"

Film that turns purple, peels off, or starts bubbling is usually an economy or low-grade window film. Over time, the adhesives and dyes in a low quality film will begin to break down. Window films used by Big Duke Tinting are engineered with high quality fade resistant dyes and metallic layers that will not discolour. All films come with a comprehensive factory warranty when professionally installed by Big Duke Tinting.

Purchasing a low quality film from 'Ebay' or high street store is tempting for a D.I.Y vehicle modifier. Do not be fooled by these cheap imitations that promise false quality.

  • "How long will it take to tint my car complete the work?"

Timings to install window films to different vehicles will vary. A 3 door hatchback can take less than an hour, however an SUV/MPV could take up to 4 hours. additional add-ons like sun strips and light unit tints will add time to your installation.

Vinyl wrapping times will also vary.

  • "Will my car pass its MOT after the work is complete?"

Installing rear window film will not effect an MOT.

Light unit films come in different shades. we predominantly use a light road legal film for front and rear lights. As long as you have good quality bulbs fitted, they will pass an MOT.

Sun strip installation is also kept within the legal parameters and is  MOT safe.

  • "Do I need to tell my insurance company after

installation?"

All vehicle modifications should be reported to your insurance provider. Even a small modification could void your policy.
